Research Grants to Find a Cure:
The Foundation to Treat Norrie Disease is very excited to announce the recipient of the Foundation’s research grant, Dr. Albert Edge. This grant represents a commitment of $100,000 of research funding. Dr. Edge is the Director of the Tillotson Cell Biology Unit at Mass. Eye and Ear and Professor Professor of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School. His research in Norrie Disease has helped to identify the underlying mechanism for hearing loss in Norrie Disease. We are proud to support him to test two different modalities of potential treatment:
Gene Therapy: Supply the NDP gene directly to the ear through AAV virus to produce the NDP protein
GSK3b Inhibitor: Stimulate wnt signaling pathway in hair cells using a GSK-3b inhibitor (CHIR99021)
